About Trinity
Trinity United Methodist
Church began with a Sunday School class on Perry Avenue (now Dancy Street)
on March 22, 1913. It was formally organized as The Perry Avenue
Methodist Episcopal Church.
In 1924 land was acquired at the corner of Glendale and Eloise Streets.
A tent was erected on the property to house Sunday School classes and
church services. The present Sanctuary was dedicated in November
of 1927, and the church was renamed "Trinity".
A parsonage was erected
next to the church through labor contributed by the men of the community.
An annex, which was the Scout Hut and voting-place for the precinct,
was built at the rear of the parsonage.
The construction of the present Sunday School building was started in
1953 by members and friends.
It was dedicated on October 8, 1955 as the Susannah Wesley Memorial
Educational Building.
In July of 1963 a beautiful new parsonage, at 1685 Geraldine Drive,
was purchased. The old parsonage was sold and moved away to make room
for a much needed parking lot.
In 1969 the Methodist Church united with The Evangelical United Brethren.
So this church is now known as Trinity United Methodist Church.
The church was "The Church with the chimes in the whispering Pines".
Over the years we have come to be known as " A Friendly, Loving, Caring
Church".
